At Barrow CEVC Primary School, we are committed to providing an inclusive and accessible environment in which every child is able to participate fully in school life and achieve their potential.
Our Christian vision, “living life to the full” (John 10:10), reflects our belief that every child should be valued, included and given the opportunity to flourish.
In accordance with the Equality Act 2010, we work to remove barriers for disabled pupils and make reasonable adjustments so that children are not placed at a substantial disadvantage.
Our Accessibility Plan focuses on three key areas:
We aim to increase the extent to which disabled pupils and pupils with additional needs can participate fully in the curriculum and wider life of the school.
We do this through high-quality inclusive teaching, appropriate adaptations and reasonable adjustments, access to additional resources and technology, and individual support where this is needed.
We plan carefully to enable pupils to participate in educational visits, residentials, sporting activities, clubs and other enrichment opportunities.
We regularly consider how our school environment can be made as accessible as possible.
Pupil areas within our school buildings are on one level, entrances and exits are accessible and we have an accessible toilet.
The individual needs of pupils are considered when organising classrooms, seating, equipment and access around the school. Where necessary, reasonable adjustments are made to enable pupils to access the facilities and opportunities available to them.
We aim to ensure that information is accessible to pupils and families who may have additional communication or accessibility needs.
Information can be adapted or provided in alternative formats where this is reasonably required. This may include changes to presentation, font size, use of visual information or other appropriate methods according to individual need.
